Khelo India Women’s League Road Cycling in Kolkata

The Third Edition of Khelo India Women’s League Road Cycling East Zone, Organised by West Bengal Cyclists’ Association under the Aegis of Cycling Federation of India & Supported by Kolkata Society for Cultural Heritage & Stay Tuned Bikes Kolkata was held on the 7th & 8th of September at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharti Krirangan complex. The 2 Day cycle race has seen a wide range of participation from girls aged 12 to women who are 45+ from across West Bengal & riders from UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odhisa, Assam & Manipur.
The 2 Day tournament was dominated by the Girls from Assam & the 2 Women Elite riders from Manipur took home 4 podium victories.
West Bengal’s Sheetal Chettri also took home 2 podium finishes.
This race is held across 12 states every year, 2 Road races & 1 Track cycling race under the Khelo India Women’s League Grant of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports to encourage more women participation in sports across the country.
The Male athletes & retired cycling fraternity came together to support the race & make it a success.
We also thank Bidhannagar Police & The administration of Vivekananda Yuva Bharti Krirangan for supporting us in making this one of the safest cycling races in recent times.
